Summer Race, Reflection & Discussion Series
Since the June 2015 fatal shootings of nine black people by a white man at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC, the CREDE staff has facilitated faculty and staff discussions on race and racism in our communities, called聽Summer Race, Reflection & Discussion Series.
The series is held during the summer months over an extended lunch and learn professional development opportunity where faculty and staff participants engage in discussions about race-related prompts that create a shared basis for exploring this socially constructed concept.
The Summer Race, Reflections and Discussion Series has expanded as a co-sponsorship by the Office of Inclusive Excellence Education & Development (OIEED), the Center for Race, Ethnicity, & Diversity Education (CREDE), and the Office of Leadership and Professional Development, .
