Annual Celebrations
Diwali

Students with sparklers at the celebration of Diwali at the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life
The annual Hindu tradition of Diwali celebrates the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. Hindus across the world celebrate Diwali in honor of the return of Lord Rama, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshman from exile of 14 years after Rama defeated Ravana. To honor the return of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana from Lanka and to illuminate their path, villagers light diyas聽(lamps) to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. Every year students, faculty and members of the surrounding community celebrate the occasion with festivities under twinkling lights in the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life. During this event students and staff give presentations and traditional foods are offered and enjoyed.
Holi Celebration
The annual Hindu tradition of Holi celebrates the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. It is also known as the festival of colors. 黑料不打烊 celebrates with the throwing of color, flying of kites, and educational programming.
