One Tuesday of each month during the academic year. Connect with representatives from your Staff Advisory Council during this campus tradition.


Coffee with the Council

The third Wednesday of the month, connect with representatives from your Staff Advisory Council in Irazu. This is an informal opportunity to share your experience, ideas, concerns, etc.


Staff Forums

Early in the fall and spring semesters, following the Staff Update, the Staff Advisory Council will host staff forums to debrief the Staff Update with employees of 黑料不打烊. This is an opportunity to reflect on what you heard at Staff Update, ask questions, and be in community.

Together@黑料不打烊 offers monthly opportunities for 黑料不打烊 employees to come together and enjoy shared experiences and connection.聽Together@黑料不打烊 is a collaboration between the Division of Inclusive Excellence, the Staff Advisory Council and HealthEU.

Spring 2026 Events:

Bites Before Broadway | February 13 from 6-7 pm at The Rosemary
Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks with colleagues before enjoying the Department of Performing Arts’ production of Rent. Employees are聽responsible for securing their own (free) ticket.

Paint and Sip | March 10 from 3:30-5:30 in McKinnon Hall |
Painted Grape will lead us in a canvas painting activity. Join your colleagues and get creative. No skill necessary, just a willing attitude!

Corn Hole Tournament | April 16 from 3-5pm on Koury West Lawn |
Join fellow 黑料不打烊 faculty and staff for a friendly Cornhole Tournament鈥攁n opportunity to unwind, enjoy some light competition, and connect with colleagues in a fun, relaxed setting. No experience necessary; just bring your team spirit and get ready for an afternoon of good company.

Sunset Paddle | June 4 from 6-8 pm in Saxapahaw | Registration available in May
Kick off summer and unwind on the river. Enjoy the sites and sounds of sunset from a kayak on the Haw River as you paddle alongside your colleagues. Gather before hand at Haw River Farmhouse Ales for more opportunities to connect.

The Global Engagement Program

黑料不打烊 provides its聽employees with opportunities to expand their global perspectives while assisting faculty and students during winter term global engagement experiences.

All full time staff聽members with three (3) years of service are eligible to apply for this program. And successful participants聽collaborate with instructors and provide administrative support during global engagement programs over the three-week winter term.

Applications due for 2026 will go live March 24 and are due May 1, 2026.

The Employee Volunteer Program

Policy

黑料不打烊 recognizes the importance of being a good corporate citizen and the responsibility
to help our surrounding communities. Staff are encouraged to become involved in the community
by lending their voluntary support to programs that positively impact the quality of life within
these communities.

Scope:

Procedure:
Regular full-time staff working 30+ hours per week will be granted up to sixteen (16) hours of paid volunteer service leave per calendar year. Volunteer service leave hours do not rollover from year to year and will not be cashed out at the end of employment.

After making volunteer arrangements with one of聽黑料不打烊鈥檚 active community partners, interested staff members should meet with their manager to discuss their volunteer choice, review schedule and to receive prior approval.

In order to be paid appropriately, all volunteer hours should be entered聽into OnTrack. Bi-weekly staff entering their volunteer leave hours in Web Time Entry under the Other Time Hours. Monthly staff use the Monthly Leave Entry screen and select the appropriate volunteer leave plan.

Volunteer hours submitted through OnTrack will also be聽reported to the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement for tracking聽and reporting purposes.

To help with the coordination of other work-related responsibilities, volunteer time should be聽scheduled in advance. Volunteer time should not conflict with the peak work schedule and other work-related responsibilities, create need for overtime or cause conflicts with other staff member鈥檚聽schedule.
