Coffey was selected as the 2018 recipient of the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professorship of Teaching at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to two retired faculty members and two steadfast supporters of the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four named professorships during the event. 

School of Education Dean Ann Bullock was among eight new members announced this week for the group that advises and designs programming for teacher education programs. 

The summer enrichment experience for academically gifted students is facilitated by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's Master of Education program, with M.Ed. and special licensure candidates crafting curricula to meet a variety of student needs and goals for the graduate-level capstone course. 

More than 50 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ undergraduates were joined by several from other colleges and universities participated this summer in SURE, one of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's signature undergraduate research opportunities. 

Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program, co-authored the article in the peer-reviewed journal Educational Media International. 

Stephen Byrd, associate professor of education and program coordinator for special education,  spoke about education, inclusion and lifelong learning opportunities for adults with disabilities at Peacehaven Community Farm on July 19, 2018.

From July 9-20, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is hosting 176 Alamance-Burlington School System students at Summer in the Village, a summer academic preparedness and enrichment program of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's It Takes a Village Project. 

The Alamance-Burlington School System Honors Institute at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, a collaborative effort between the school system and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, is providing a summer enrichment experience for talented and motivated students.

On Monday, June 18, the Master of Education Program welcomed a new cohort to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ campus that includes eight studying gifted education and three studying elementary education.
