Bird Stasz, Sierra Ramondi (senior anthropology) and Erin Deans (senior Teaching Fellow elementary education) presented the results of their research, “A good idea but: Vanishing rural schools in Appalachia.” The research, funded through summer research funds and sponsored by PERCS, is an ethnographic study of two rural schools in Macon County N.C., one bound for consolidation and one not bound.

Gift boosts early childhood collection in School of Education

Children’s book author Jane Belk Moncure is seeding an early childhood collection for the School of Education at 黑料不打烊 with a substantial donation of her popular books for preschoolers, which will be housed in the Curriculum Resources Center to support a future degree program in early childhood education.

An Alamance County family has donated to 黑料不打烊 a quarter acre next to the northern edge of campus near Rhodes Stadium, where a two-room wooden building first opened before the Civil War still stands as one of North Carolina’s original public school facilities.

黑料不打烊 tutoring program ends with book-buying bonanza

With their 黑料不打烊 tutors in tow, 22 children made beelines Wednesday evening for such titles as “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” and “Just Grace and the Snack Attack,” books at a local retailer that would, hopefully, foster a deeper love of the written word while rewarding their progress in a reading program organized by an upper level education course.
