Thirty-eight new teacher candidates were inducted into the Teacher Education Program on Wednesday, April 28. Current student teachers Liz Seckerson and Becky Fogle provided inspiring words to both welcome and challenge the newest cohort of prospective teachers as they begin the transition from student to teacher. Jared Williams, a 2009 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ M.Ed. graduate and Rockingham County Teacher of the Year, offered insight into the transition from teacher to teacher leader.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's School of Education honored the academic excellence of 44 undergraduate and graduate students on May 3 as they were inducted into the Sigma Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education.

Lindsay Travis Bedford ‘05 will be named the Autism Society of North Carolina’s "Teacher of the Year" on April 24, 2010, during the organization’s annual conference.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumnus Preston Williams Jr. ’09 was named one of four recipients of this year’s Diane Kent-Parker First Year Teacher Award in the Wake County Public School System, which serves more than 139,000 students in North Carolina’s second most populous county.

Anthropology students Clementine Wall and Sierra Raimondi and education student Erin Deans presented their research at the Appalachia Studies Assoication conference in Dahlonega, Ga., March 19-20.
