“Young Filmmakers of Ethiopia,” a one-hour documentary produced by the associate professor of communications, will be shown at the Broadcast Education Association’s On-Location Conference, held at the University of Houston Oct. 18-20.

Seventeen members and guests of the School of Communications Advisory Board visited campus on Sept. 28 to discuss their professional industries, share their expertise, and speak with eight classes.

Started by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the national initiative encourages individuals to engage with news and raises awareness about the importance of staying informed. 

The School of Communications program, which partners with ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Athletics to broadcast university sporting events, streamed ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s football game against New Hampshire during Family Weekend.

The lecturer in the School of Communications is one of five award recipients recognized with the National Scholastic Press Association’s highest accolade for journalism educators.

Seventeen members of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ News Network stayed on campus last week to cover the impact of Hurricane Florence, regularly updating the campus on the unpredictable nature of the storm and the effects it had on community members.

Presented on campus as part of Supporting Survivors Week, the 2017 documentary features Recy Taylor, a 24-year-old black mother and sharecropper living in Alabama, who was abducted and raped by six white boys in 1944.

During his 10-week fellowship this summer, the journalism major and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ News Network executive director joined 37 student journalists from across the country to explore the growing climate of hate in the United States.
