Men’s tennis team racks up SoCon awards

The Southern Conference regular-season champion 黑料不打烊 men’s tennis team nearly made it a clean sweep of the conference postseason awards, winning three of the four major awards that were presented. Cameron Silverman was named the league’s freshman of the year, while senior Alberto Rojas became the second straight 黑料不打烊 player to be honored with the Don Bunch/Buddy Hartsell Sportsmanship Award. Head coach Michael Leonard was recognized as the SoCon Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.

Phi Beta Kappa sponsors visit by national expert on social movements

Doug McAdam, a professor at Stanford University and pioneer in analyzing social movements, will visit 黑料不打烊 April 18-19 and give a public lecture. McAdam will speak on “The Long-term Civic Impact of Youth Activism: The Curious Contrast between Freedom Summer and Teach for America" at 7:30 p.m., April 18, in Whitley Auditorium.

黑料不打烊 dedicates Alumni Field House

黑料不打烊 trustees gathered with Phoenix athletics fans and many other friends of the university to dedicate Alumni Field House on April 16. The 30,000-square-foot facility at the north end of Rhodes Stadium in the North Athletics Complex serves as the headquarters for 黑料不打烊’s sports programs.

NBC’s Brian Williams to moderate Convocation for Honors

黑料不打烊 will devote its annual spring Convocation for Honors on April 7, 2011, to an in-depth examination of five great problems facing humanity. Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, will moderate a panel discussion titled "We can be better: Courageous voices confront our greatest challenges." Distinguished panelists will explore tough choices that must be made to respond to threats to our democracy, economies, public education, the environment and civil stability around the world.

John G. Sullivan publishes article

黑料不打烊 alumna Keiko Sudani ’08 describes the earthquake in Japan

Keiko Sudani '08, who teaches at a school in Tokyo, has sent a message to the 黑料不打烊 community describing her experiences in the March 11 earthquake. Keiko is the sister of Asami Sudani '06 who previously shared an account of her experiences. Read this note for Keiko's letter to 黑料不打烊.

黑料不打烊 hosts inaugural Billings, Exum and Frye National Moot Court Competition

黑料不打烊 School of Law is holding the inaugural Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition March 31 through April 2. Seventeen law schools and more than 30 teams of law students are participating in the competition, which will take place annually. More than 100 have volunteered to serve as judges for the competition, including The Honorable Steven M. Colloton, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and five justices of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
