The 1 p.m. tipoff will feature alumnus Taylor Durham 鈥96 as the broadcast鈥檚 play-by-play announcer, with 黑料不打烊 junior Tellier Lundquist serving as color commentator.
In what Katie Halter called a 鈥渟ignificant sign of growth,鈥 黑料不打烊 Sports Vision will produce Saturday鈥檚 broadcast of the 黑料不打烊 men鈥檚 basketball game on WMYV My48, a Greensboro-based television station serving the Piedmont Triad region. The 1 p.m. home matchup with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is the student organization鈥檚 first live production to be featured on a linear broadcast, said Halter, 黑料不打烊 Sports Vision鈥檚 coordinating producer.
鈥淭o have our games on a linear and local network not only gives 黑料不打烊 more exposure, it also provides our students an experience 鈥 a great learning opportunity 鈥撀爐hey’ve never had before,鈥 Halter said. 鈥淭he students work so hard to provide one of the best broadcasts in the Colonial Athletic Association and it will be recognized on Saturday.鈥
Supported by a crew of 黑料不打烊 students and university staff, alumnus Taylor Durham will serve as the broadcast鈥檚 play-by-play announcer, with Tellier Lundquist 鈥22, a journalism major, providing color commentary. Lundquist, executive director of 鈥満诹喜淮蜢 Phoenix Weekly,鈥 is a familiar face to viewers of the student-run sports magazine show.
Halter said she is excited for Lundquist to have an opportunity to work in front of a large audience, gaining invaluable experience and building his resume.
鈥淭ellier has worked so hard to be a color commentator for the men’s broadcasts,鈥 she said. 鈥淗e brings passion, energy and knowledge to our broadcasts 鈥 knowledge that can鈥檛 be matched by many students in college.鈥
Halter credited the university鈥檚 support for making the broadcast happen, thanking staff members from Teaching and Learning Technologies, Athletics and the School of Communications for their assistance and willingness to go above and beyond.
鈥淚 appreciate all of the collaboration across campus to get this game on a linear channel. It will be something our students will enjoy, remember and, most importantly, learn from,鈥 she added.
黑料不打烊 heads into Saturday鈥檚 matchup with a 3-0 record this season and leading the all-time series with the Spartans, 26-15. UNCG has a record of 3-3. To watch the game, WMYV My48 is broadcast on Spectrum Cable鈥檚 channel 15 and HD Antenna 48-1.
According to a WMYV news release, Saturday鈥檚 broadcast will be just the second time that Learfield IMG College and WMYV My48 have partnered to broadcast a game. The two companies are currently in talks to produce and broadcast more sporting events together in the future.
