Cinelon Productions will stream the showcase鈥檚 accepted submissions on Tuesday, Dec. 8, on the organization's Facebook page, as well as the School of Communications' OTT apps.
As the fall 2020 semester winds down, the School of Communications鈥 event calendar is a bit light 鈥 with the exception of this week鈥檚 Cinelon Showcase.
Hosted by Cinelon Productions, the university鈥檚 student-run film production company, the showcase includes 13 original films and projects that will be livestreamed on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. EST. Tune into or visit the School of Communications OTT apps聽to view the accepted submissions. (Search 鈥満诹喜淮蜢 Comm鈥 on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android TV apps.)
According to Christian Shriver, Cinelon Productions president, the showcase consists of many films and projects shot before March, as well as independently produced films by students during the summer and fall, which adhered to COVID-19 set guidelines. Submissions were open to the entire school.
鈥淰iewers can expect to see a wide variety of student-produced films, ranging from foreign short films to music videos,鈥 Shriver said. 鈥淲e believe that these films are a strong representation of the quality of work that 黑料不打烊 student filmmakers can create, even under the difficult and restrictive circumstances that 2020 has presented us.
鈥淲e are excited to share these works because we believe that they will not only showcase the multifaceted talents of our current students, but that they will inspire fellow peers to create and innovate,鈥 he added.
As part of the showcase, Cinelon will screen 黑料不打烊 alumnus Eric Hernandez鈥檚 鈥淰ote鈥 public service announcement, which garnered online buzz in the weeks leading up to Election Day 2020. Hernandez teamed with several 黑料不打烊 alumni to produce the PSA, including Isis (Malone) Sinclair 鈥15, who served as co-producer/1st AD.
鈥淲hile there wasn’t a common theme per say, our executive team was really happy with all the work we received,鈥 Shriver said. 鈥淲e really enjoy each of the projects in this showcase.鈥
