Five alumni are being honored with the 2015 Alumni Awards by the Office of Alumni Engagement for their professional success, community engagement and loyal support of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The recipients will be honored at the Welcome Home Reception and Opening Ceremony on Oct. 16, which kicks off the .
The winners are:
Igor Pavlov ’94, managing director and co-head Jefferies Relative Value, Jefferies & Company, New York, New York
Alumnus of the Year
Awarded to an alumnus who has distinguished himself in a profession and in the community and brought honor to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
Igor Pavlov graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 1994 with degrees in mathematics and physics. He serves on the President’s Advisory Council and is a former member of the Love School Advisory Board. In 2007, he and wife Mia created the Pavlov Endowed Scholarship at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to support an international student on campus.
Tracey Nugent ’84 P’15, philanthropist, Naples, Florida
Alumna of the Year
Awarded to an alumna who has distinguished herself in a profession and in the community and brought honor to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
Tracey Nugent graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 1984 with a degree in business administration. A former member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Alumni Board and Parents Council, Tracey has served on the board of the Nugent Family Foundation, which supports educational causes, and was involved in the Center City Consortium and as a fundraiser for Episcopal Senior Ministries, both in Washington, D.C. The atrium in the Inman Admissions Welcome Center is named in honor of Tracey and husband Jamey in recognition of their support of the project.
Matt Belanger ’05, weekend evening anchor/reporter, WSB-TV, Atlanta, Georgia
Young Alumnus of the Year
Awarded to an alumnus who has graduated within the past 10 years and has distinguished himself in his profession.
Matt Belanger graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 2005 with a degree in broadcast communications. Over the years, he has been honored with numerous reporting awards from the Associated Press and three regional Emmy Awards.
Melissa Taylor Duncan ’06 L’09, associate director of student and professional life, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law, Greensboro, North Carolina
Young Alumna of the Year
Awarded to an alumna who has graduated within the past 10 years and has distinguished herself in her profession.
Melissa Taylor Duncan graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 2006 with a degree in psychology. She went on to earn her law degree as a member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law’s charter class in 2009. Prior to her current position, she practiced consumer bankruptcy law.
Darryl Smith ’86, vice president of sales, UPS Capital Inc., Raleigh, North Carolina
Distinguished Service to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Award
Awarded to an organization, business, foundation or individual who has demonstrated outstanding service that promotes the advancement of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
Darryl Smith graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 1986 with a degree in business administration. He has been an active liaison between ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and UPS and was also instrumental in the establishment of the Black Alumni Scholarship.
