The School of Communications colleagues conducted a content analysis of national cable news and broadcast television news coverage between 2015 and 2020 about veterans and service members of the United States military. Their findings were recently published in the quarterly journal Electronic News.

Twenty-eight students were recognized at the end-of-the-year celebration, including the inaugural recipient of the Christopher Edwards II ’18 Award for Sports Journalism, honoring a graduating senior who has established a record of academic success and demonstrated mastery within sports journalism.

During its annual awards celebration, hosted April 20 in Turner Theatre, the School of Communications acknowledged the outstanding contributions of several faculty and staff members, and bid farewell to Glenn Scott and Jeff James.

The university's top undergraduate research award comes with $20,000 to support and celebrate academic and creative achievements.

The strategic communications graduate helped provide publicity and promotion for the hit ABC show “Abbott Elementary” and was honored with Warner Bros. Discovery colleagues during the 60th annual ICG Publicists Awards ceremony.

The student-run news organization was recognized widely in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 2 Mark of Excellence Awards, earning first place in nine categories.

In conjunction with the Student Professional Development Center, the School of Communications hosted the Communications and Sport Management Meet and Greet on March 28, attracting more than 200 students and 20 employers representing a variety of communications-related industries.

The School of Communications hosted its first-ever trivia contest for members of the Communications Fellows program, testing the students’ knowledge of the Tar Heel state, pop culture and other fun facts.

The Winter Term course exposed the Fellows to different communications industries and promoted bonding among the first-year cohort.

These ���ϲ����� associate professors also have leadership roles at ISA's International Communication Section and ISA's Governing Council, respectively.
