ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ faculty members Tony Weaver, Caroline Ketcham and Eric Hall will partner with the university’s nine fellow Colonial Athletic Association member institutions to study access issues for student-athletes to high-impact educational practices.

Led by Assistant Professor Mark Cryan, seven students attended the four-day event that drew representatives from all 30 Major League Baseball teams and their 160 minor league affiliates. Among those on hand were several ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumni now working in professional baseball.

Assistant Professor Shaina Dabbs' Professional Sport Management class met with executives and staff members working for the Carolina Panthers, Knights and Checkers, including a trio of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumni who handle ticket sales for the city’s AHL affiliate.  

Oliver Luck, executive vice president of regulatory affairs and an authority on all NCAA regulatory functions, spoke with Visiting Professor Bill Squadron’s “Sport Law” classes on Nov. 30.

The assistant professor of sport management co-led an October presentation titled “Developing Leadership Capacity of College Students During Divisive Times.”

Mia Faith Chamberlain and Jordan Thompson ’14 led an Oct. 25 presentation titled “Play at the Next Level: A Career in Sport,” highlighting the benefits of a legal education in the sport industry.

Assistant Professor of Sport Management Mark Cryan has directed a summer program the past two years that provides cultural and language exchange events for Latin American players with the Burlington Royals. 

The Sport Management Department hosted its annual fall internship forum on Sept. 18, featuring Carol Pyszkowski ’16 as the event’s keynote speaker. The gathering also highlighted several SPT students and their professional experiences during the past summer.

Abby Bradbury ’13 works in the athletics department at the University of California, Berkeley, and shared her personal and professional insights with Associate Professor Hal Walker’s Contemporary Sport Management class.
