Students in the Adventure-Based Learning senior capstone class developed and submitted conference presentation proposals focused on topics such as mental health and the outdoors, technology use, and group dynamics on expedition programs at the Association for Experiential Education southeast regional conference Feb. 23-25.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ trustees met on Feb. 23 and granted tenure and approved promotions for several faculty members.

 

Carducci will provide academic leadership for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s newest graduate degree program, with the inaugural cohort to enroll in the full-time, two-year program this fall. 

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study, and teaching opportunities to recent graduates in more than 140 countries, with approximately 1,900 grants awarded annually in all fields of study.

Four students in the School of Education’s teacher education program have been awarded $5,000 scholarships from the Hattie M. Strong Foundation.

 

Members of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's Teacher Education program were inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Society, a national leadership honor society at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, on Feb. 4.

As a pilot outreach program, the School of Education is offering the full 12-credit AIG licensure to a group of 20 teachers in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School district.

Katie Baker, assistant professor of education, has been awarded a Service, Teaching and Research (STaR) Fellowship through the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators.

Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program, Julie Justice, assistant professor of education, and Scott Morrison, assistant professor of education, published articles in the journal Learning Landscapes.

The prominent author and expert in the fields of autism and animal welfare will visit campus on Tuesday, Feb. 27 with a 7:30 p.m. lecture in McCrary Theatre titled "Developing Individuals Who Have Different Kinds of Minds."
