When Robert Hoppey '09 saw a tough job market in the year leading up to his graduation, he built a "souped-up multimedia resume" that included a video spoof of "The Office" television program to show potential employers his creative side. CBS Evening News took note, too, and Hoppey was featured in a June 8 nationwide segment on the ways college graduates are marketing themselves in an economic recession.

Faculty and staff have started their move into Lindner Hall, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's newest academic building, as work crews this week continue exterior work on what will be the “greenest” facility on campus upon completion.

Do justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly with God. For the Rev. Janet Cooper Nelson, the chaplain of Brown University who delivered a sermon May 22 at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's Baccalaurate, graduates should follow those simple lessons as they embark on their life journeys.

Some members of the Class of 2009 took time to send messages of thanks to parents, professors and mentors on May 22 as they gathered for receptions prior to Baccalaureate ceremonies.

Three ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ undergraduate students and two ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ law students have been selected for 10-week summer internships with various North Carolina state agencies. The N.C. State Government Internship Program, in its 39th year, is coordinated by the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office in the Department of Administration.

Commencement 2009 exercises will be streamed LIVE via ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's Web site. The undergraduate Commencement video stream will start at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23. The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law video stream will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 24.

Members of the Class of 2009 will have an extra measure of comfort, thanks to the new Commencement rain plan. Jordan Gym in Koury Center, where graduates organize into the line of march prior to Commencement, has often turned into a hot zone in past years because the gym is not air conditioned. This year, graduates will enjoy a cool and temporary respite from the heat.
