The longtime faculty member in the Department of Mathematics will spend the 2026-27 academic year researching the way math has been used to drive storytelling – and how stories then spark the curiosity of readers who want to learn more about math concepts.

Eleven ���ϲ����� seniors and alumni have been named semifinalists for The Fulbright U.S. Student Program: the largest educational exchange program in the world that offers research, study and teaching opportunities to recent graduates in more than 140 countries, with approximately 2,000 grants awarded annually in all fields of study.

The ���ϲ����� Dance Team was joined by four faculty/staff members to perform the halftime show at the ���ϲ����� vs. Townsen men's basketball game.

An ���ϲ����� associate professor of mathematics Hwayeon Ryu joined more than 290 mathematicians on Capitol Hill on Jan. 8, 2026, to advocate for sustained federal investment in mathematical sciences education and research, highlighting how federal support promotes undergraduate research, expands access to STEM pathways and strengthens the U.S. STEM workforce.

Students and faculty at the ���ϲ����� Mathematics Department attended and presented at the Joint Mathematics Meetings on January 4-7, 2026, in Washington DC.

High academic achievements earned four members of the Class of 2026 early invitations last spring to the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor society.

Her paper, “Numerical Simulation of Jellyfish Swimming,” is available in Volume 8 of "PUMP (Preparing Undergraduate Mathematicians for PhDs): Journal of Undergraduate Research."

Aaron Trocki, associate professor of mathematics, published a research report in the international journal, Digital Experiences in Mathematics Education.
