Thomas Tiemann, Jefferson Pilot Professor of Economics, is teaching a two-week course, "The Economics of Cities," at Universytet Ekonomiczny w Krakowie (Cracow University of Economics) this semester in Krakow, Poland.

The MBA Student Alumni Association hosted a golf tournament that raised $1,000 in support of the ���ϲ����� Academy Dream Fund, a special budget created by the association three years ago to assist ���ϲ����� Academy with college visits, involve students in school and community projects, and help students and families when unexpected life situations arise.

Four members of the student organization Student Entrepreneurial Enterprise Development (SEED) served as student ambassadors at the inaugural D.C. Entrepreneurship Week.

Steve Schuckenbrock '82, president of Dell Global Large Enterprise, shared wisdom gleaned from his nearly 30 years in the information technology (IT) field with students, faculty and staff in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business on Nov. 12. Schuckenbrock, one of ���ϲ�����'s most accomplished business alumni, also received the 2010 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award from President Leo M. Lambert.

The Love School of Business Career Services center is offering “Networking Strategies for Successful Career Search” workshops for LSB students this week and next week in KOBC Rom 204. Learn how to develop your elevator speech and enhance communication and networking strategies. The hour-long workshops are led by Richard Jordon, LSB Career Services Associate Director, and Kehaya Wescott, LSB Internship Coordinator.

More than 120 students from six North Carolina universities took part this month in a third annual contest sponsored by the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and by S.E.E.D., a student group at ���ϲ����� dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship. The ���ϲ����� Innovation Challenge concluded Nov. 22 with an afternoon awards ceremony honoring three teams that were lauded by a panel of local entrepreneurs for their work.

When the North American Free Trade Agreement went into effect on Jan. 1, 1994, its goal was to increase trade between Canada, Mexico and the United States by eliminating tariffs and encouraging investment. Seventeen years later, as part of International Education Week 2010 at ���ϲ�����, representatives from the three nations met to offer thoughts on the future of the agreement.

Kevin O'Mara, a professor of business administration, and Gary Palin, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, presented Nov. 12 at the International Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship hosted by the Izmir University of Economics in Izmir, Turkey.
