An article by Catherine Ross Dunham, an associate professor of law, has been accepted for publication in the Winter 2009 volume of the University of San Francisco Law Review. Dunham will also be hosting a national expert on electronic discovery on Nov. 10 in her Civil Procedures class.

“History” is not just what happened at a given time, but to whom it happens and why, said Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough, who spoke this week in Greensboro for the Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series. And not all presidents are exceptional, he said, adding that Americans should “count our blessings when a real leader arrives on the scene.”

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law is offering a free CLE program on Nov. 7, 2008, for anyone interested in the future of the U.S. financial markets and how they affect businesses from Wall Street to main Street, with a particular focus on attorneys advising individual and business clients.

Thomson West has just published the 3rd edition of Death Penalty in a Nutshell by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law professor Victor Streib.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ will host the Second Annual Carolina Classic Mock Trial Tournament Oct. 18-19.  Sponsored by the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law, the Carolina Classic is an undergraduate tournament involving four rounds of trial competition for over 200 students.

Twenty-four teams from 13 institutions will compete in the event, which will be held in the Koury Business Center. A full schedule is available at the mock trial website.

Victor Streib, a professor of law, has just published an article titled "Media Misuse: Criminal Lawyer Advertising and Prosecutor Campaigning under the Guise of the Public’s Need to Know." 

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Board of Trustees has passed a resolution thanking Leary Davis, founding dean emeritus of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law, for his work in establishing the school. The resolution was passed at the board's annual fall meeting Oct. 10.

Jim Exum, the Distinguished Jurist in Residence of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law, has been selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of Woodward & White’s list of The Best Lawyers in America.

George Johnson Jr., interim dean of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law, was the subject of the feature profile in the Oct. 10 edition of the Triad Business Journal. The story details Johnson's distinguished career and his role in leading the law school.

Professor Victor Streib of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law has published an article, "Precocious Killers:  Justice for Homicidal Pre-Teens," in the latest issue of the CHILDREN’S LEGAL RIGHTS JOURNAL, published by Loyola University in Chicago.
