The New Leaf Society, of Burlington, N.C., has made a gift-in-kind to the Ever ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Campaign to support the university’s new master of physician assistant studies program. The gift will support landscaping and other work associated with renovations of the Gerald L. Francis Center, which will house the PA and physical therapy programs on ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s main campus.

Dr. Randall Lazicki, an ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ DPT alum currently employed at the Duke University Sports Medicine Center, was part of a panel who presented an educational session, Knee changes from the sports injury to the total knee arthoplasty, at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting in New Orleans last week.

John G. Currin Jr., president and chief executive officer of Alamance Regional Medical Center and ARMC Healthcare since 2005, was honored at a June 22 campus luncheon with the Frank S. Holt, Jr. Business Leadership Award, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s highest honor for business leadership.

Forty first-year Doctor of Physical Therapy students joined 26 elementary children on July 14 for a morning of fun and physical activity as part of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Summer Learning and Enrichment Academy, a partnership between ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and the Alamance-Burlington School System that focuses on helping exceptional children in grades K-8 develop and maintain academic and behavioral skills they need to be successful in their learning.

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Board of Trustees has approved the establishment of a master of science program in physician assistant studies. The board's vote at its Oct. 22-23 fall meeting will launch ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s sixth graduate program.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's new master of science program in physician assistant (PA) studies will be located on the university's main campus. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's board of trustees made the decision in a special vote on Jan. 5, following more than two months of study and fundraising efforts.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's new PA program, which enrolls its first class in January 2013, was featured in the July 25 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's board of trustees voted April 15 to establish a new School of Health Sciences, serving graduate students in the existing doctor of physical therapy (DPT) program along with students in the new physician assistant (PA) studies master's program, which will enroll its first class in January 2013.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ DPT students and alumni, including Jennifer Evans, Dana Tishler, Blair Madden, Natalie Maness, Judy Saas and Morgan Mason, are regular volunteers with the Greensboro Ballet's Dancing Above the Barre program.
