The chair of the Sport Management Department authored a research article published in the Journal of Amateur Sport, a publication for scholars to share scholarship relevant to the amateur sports realm.

For a second consecutive year, a team of four ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students advanced to the finals of the Sport Marketing Association Conference’s case study competition, identifying new content offerings and underserved audiences for Stadium, a fledgling digital television and internet sports network.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumna Shelby McKay ’13, senior academic advisor at George Washington University, provided a keynote address at the May 7 awards ceremony, highlighting her professional path and the influence of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s community, while also sharing words of wisdom with the soon-to-be graduates.

The coordinating producer of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Sports Vision, formerly Maroon Sports, returned to her native Minnesota to support three of the network’s basketball-centric shows.

The April 23 event is headlined by a keynote address from former NBA Commissioner David Stern, followed by two panel discussions addressing the business impact and regulation of legalized sports betting. Tickets are on sale through April 17; ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students, faculty and staff can attend at no cost, but must register in advance.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ was named PRWeek’s 2019 Outstanding Education Program and was celebrated at the PRWeek Awards dinner and presentation on March 21 in New York City.

As ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ hits the midpoint of its semester and heads into spring break, community members will likely head home, maybe travel, certainly relax and – undoubtedly – stream content. Thanks to the School of Communications’ new channel available on Roku devices, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ-produced content has never been more accessible.
