In conjunction with the Student Professional Development Center, the School of Communications hosted the Communications and Sport Management Meet and Greet on March 28, attracting more than 200 students and 20 employers representing a variety of communications-related industries.

The School of Communications hosted its first-ever trivia contest for members of the Communications Fellows program, testing the students’ knowledge of the Tar Heel state, pop culture and other fun facts.

The Winter Term course exposed the Fellows to different communications industries and promoted bonding among the first-year cohort.

Five ���ϲ����� first-year students describe their unique ���ϲ����� experiences since arriving at the university in August.

Assistant Professor Kai Swanson and 17 ���ϲ����� students traveled to Park City, Utah, and Hollywood during Winter Term for an immersion experience into the film and entertainment industries.

Their script “DROP DEAD” placed in four major film festivals.

Associate Professor David Bockino and 19 students in his Through the Lens of ESPN class enjoyed an in-depth tour during Winter Term of Argentina and Uruguay, exploring athletic venues, national media outlets, and the importance of soccer in South American culture.

As a lead designer on the NBC Sports on-air graphic design team, the ���ϲ����� alumnus has been instrumental in this season’s presentations of “Sunday Night Football” and “Thursday Night Football.”

Vreeland is the supervising producer for New York Times Cooking and is making a name for himself being featured multiple times on "Good Morning America," writing recipes and filming content in his supervisory role with The New York Times, and even making the 2023 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for media.

The initiative, made possible by a generous grant from the Scripps Howard Fund, will offer four virtual workshops and an on-campus summer experience.
