Faculty and staff gathered Monday to celebrate the accomplishments of three professors named to endowed professorships and to hear remarks from President Connie Ledoux Book.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ faculty and staff will participate in a full week of activities, gatherings and workshops as ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ kicks off the 2021-22 academic year on Monday, Aug. 16, at Opening Day.

Since women's sports gained varsity recognition in 1971, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ has claimed more than 30 regular season or tournament championships, as well as earning 13 national postseason appearances.

The James P. Elder Lecture series was first endowed by former students of the popular professor and mentor who has now ensured that the series named for him will endure for future generations.

As chapter presidents transition from virtual programming to in-person events, Welcome to the City will be their first focus as alumni chapter volunteers lean into the year ahead.

The intent of the workplace HealthEYou Program for metabolic disease prevention is to promote healthy eating behaviors, physical activity, goal setting, accountability and overall well-being among ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ staff and faculty through weekly engaging education sessions, individual check-ins and exercise in Fall of 2021.

Among those visiting ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ will be soccer star Carli Lloyd, actor BD Wong, astronaut and engineer Leland Melvin, and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ President Emeritus Leo M. Lambert and Assistant Provost Peter Felten.

Members of the Class of 2020 are invited back to campus Sept. 3-5 for an array of events to celebrate their accomplishments. Registration closes Friday, July 30.

The tours for members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community on Friday, June 18, were organized by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education to recognize and celebrate the Juneteenth holiday this year.

The university is hosting two concerts this summer for the university community, with the John Brown Jazz Trio taking the stage at 3 p.m. on June 17 and The Castaways performing at 3 p.m. on July 22.
