35 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athletes earn fall 2008 academic all-conference honors

Thirty-five ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athletes received academic all-conference recognition by the Southern Conference during the fall season. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ ranked #2 among the 12 SoCon schools in the number of athletes earning recognition. To be eligible, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and must have competed in at least one-half of their team’s competitions during the recently-concluded fall campaign.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Mike Kennedy Named to USA Baseball staff

USA Baseball has announced that the 2009 USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) coaching staff will include ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Phoenix skipper Mike Kennedy. Former ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ head coach Rick Jones is the head coach for the 2009 squad.

Men’s soccer team finishes perfect SoCon season

The Phoenix soccer team beat Furman Oct. 28 to complete a 7-0-0 perfect Southern Conference season. This is ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's first regular season men's soccer title in the conference. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ will enter the SoCon tournament Nov. 8 as the top seed, and will host the quarterfinal game on campus.

Tolley named to NAIA Hall of Fame

Jerry Tolley, former head ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ football coach and a current member of the University Advancement staff, has been named a member of the 2008-09 Hall of Fame class of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The honor is the highest bestowed by the NAIA.
