Wells Fargo executive shares insights on leadership and AI

Tracy Kerrins, Consumer CIO and Head of Enterprise Generative AI at Wells Fargo, spoke to 黑料不打烊 students about career growth, technology innovation and resilience during a Behind the Resume event.

Tracy Kerrins, Consumer CIO and Head of Enterprise Generative AI at Wells Fargo, visited the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business on April 17 to speak with students as part of the Behind the Resume series.

The session was moderated by Executive in Residence David Goslin and Lily Hauptmann 鈥25, a business analytics major from Cape Cod, Mass.

The event highlighted Kerrins鈥 career path from engineering graduate to technology executive, with roles of ever-increasing responsibility at PwC, Accenture, Bank of America and now Wells Fargo.

鈥淚 never planned to work in financial services,鈥 Kerrins said. 鈥淏ut I found that technology at scale is exciting 鈥 it鈥檚 complex, it鈥檚 high stakes, and it鈥檚 critical to everyday life.鈥

Kerrins discussed the rapid growth of generative AI and how companies like Wells Fargo are adapting while also prioritizing the risk management challenges associated with AI. She encouraged students to actively use AI tools, build critical thinking skills and seek roles that feel challenging.

鈥淟earn constantly. Use technology. Don鈥檛 be afraid of it,鈥 Kerrins said.

Passionate about supporting women in technology, Kerrins also shared the importance of mentorship, resilience during setbacks and staying focused on personal growth rather than chasing titles.

鈥淵ou don鈥檛 have to know everything at once,鈥 Kerrins said. 鈥淏ut you do have to be willing to take the leap, stay curious and keep moving forward.鈥
