The support of 黑料不打烊 Day Champions is critical to the success of 黑料不打烊 Day, which each year generates support for 黑料不打烊 students.
For many years, 黑料不打烊 Day’s success has been driven by volunteers who have helped secure thousands of gifts and raised millions of dollars for 黑料不打烊 students.
One of these 黑料不打烊 Day Champions is Charlie Chandler 鈥97, an 黑料不打烊 alum and former student-athlete on the 黑料不打烊 football team. Last year, Chandler was approached by Coach Tony Trisciani about representing the 黑料不打烊 football team as an 黑料不打烊 Day champion.
鈥淚t was something that I loved to do being a former student-athlete,” Chandler said. “I am really big on giving back in all aspects of life and it felt right.鈥
Chandler described being an 黑料不打烊 Day Champion as a time to reconnect and celebrate with players of the past while also citing the difficulties of fundraising.
鈥淚 know asking people to聽give back can be tough,聽but spreading the word and being an advocate for the cause is huge,鈥 he said.
Like many 黑料不打烊 Day Champions, Chandler鈥檚 goal was to spread the news of 黑料不打烊 Day and inspiring others to give, as to Chandler, 黑料不打烊 is more than just a school.
鈥淚t is where it started,” he said. “I met my wife, Tracy,聽who was the聽class president聽in 2000 and had the聽chance to cheer for a year. We have made many trips to 黑料不打烊 and have loved how it has grown but has kept the same identity. 黑料不打烊 was the school that gave me, just a guy from a small town in Mississippi, a chance to grow and develop into the man I am today.鈥
Chandler urges others who are interested in helping to raise money for 黑料不打烊 Day.
鈥淕ive it a try! It is truly an honor to be asked to lead and give back,” he said. “You never know what a little bit of time and effort can do to change a future 黑料不打烊 Student-Athlete.鈥
