Lucas Haskins, ���ϲ����� Sports Vision coordinating producer, and Quintin Brenner, video production engineer, accompanied students Ben Ohlmeyer ’24 and Chase Williams ’23 to the Sports Video Group College Summit in Atlanta on June 13-14. The two-day conference attracts college sports communicators and creatives from across the country, and provides training, education and case studies about production, distribution and fan engagement.

The event featured speaker sessions, awards, vendors, and opportunities to network and meet with other college broadcast groups. Among the invited speakers was Haskins who served on a panel titled “Tools for Growth: The Gear Fueling the Democratization of Live Production.” Additionally, ���ϲ����� Sports Vision, which provides all ���ϲ����� Phoenix live video productions, was a finalist in the “Outstanding Live Game Production” category in the summit’s award competition.

“The SVG College Summit was a wonderful opportunity for our staff and students to network with and learn from some of the best minds in the collegiate sports video industry,” said Haskins, who noted that the four-person contingent was the largest ���ϲ����� has ever sent to the summit. “Our group learned valuable and innovative ideas that we will bring back to ���ϲ����� and start instituting this year to improve our operations and final product.”

“It was an honor to be a finalist and we were proud to be among a great group of our peers in the industry,” he added.

The summit provided the students a chance to interact with fellow students and student media organizations. Williams, a journalism major, explained that the opportunity to network was especially valuable. And he thanked Assistant Professor Max Negan for encouraging him to attend.

“My favorite part had to be the networking socials because they gave me an opportunity to connect with other schools and hear a lot of stories,” Williams said. “While it may have not been the place where I ‘learned’ the most while at the summit, it was the time that was the most helpful. The networking socials gave me the opportunities to bounce ideas off people in the business. It also gave me a chance to show people what I was capable of, which is important to me with the fact that I graduate soon.”

“The big thing I learned at the SVG College Summit was to use my personality on air,” Williams added. “I got compliments on that with people I talked to and told me it could be a massive strength as a broadcaster.”

���ϲ����� Sports Vision is slated to broadcast every on-campus ���ϲ����� Phoenix basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball and lacrosse contest during the 2022-23 academic year. Games can be seen live on .
