Rachael Davis 鈥24 part of winning Marketing Jam team

Davis and three 黑料不打烊 students tested their marketing consulting skills in the 2022 AMA Triangle Marketing Jam collegiate event.

Four Martha and Spencer Love School of Business students represented 黑料不打烊 in the 2022 Marketing Jam Scholarship Competition hosted by American Marketing Association (AMA) Triangle.

Held virtually on March 26, students from North Carolina and South Carolina colleges and universities were placed into randomly assigned pairs to propose strategies to solve a client’s real-world marketing issue.

This year鈥檚 case asked teams how Lung Cancer Initiative (LCI) can recruit new donors and market to current donors to encourage them to move up to the next level of donation by providing sustaining support. Teams were also asked to consider how LCI can combat the stigma of lung cancer to different audiences in the community.

Participating from 黑料不打烊 were Business Fellows Alexandra Cope 鈥24, Rachael Davis 鈥24, Catherine McDonough 鈥25 and Isabel Sachtleben 鈥24. Within four hours, teams conducted a situational analysis and created an action plan, which they later presented to a panel of marketing professionals.

Davis and her teammate from Winthrop University were named the winners and received a scholarship prize.

Reflecting on her experience, Davis stated, 鈥淎MA Triangle’s Marketing Jam was an incredible experience that helped me feel more confident in my marketing, presentation and communication abilities. Being able to apply the concepts developed in class to a real-world client case study was a great way to see just how much I’ve learned, and competing virtually in randomly assigned groups was an experience that I believe has helped me prepare for the workforce.鈥
