���ϲ����� alumna Maity Interiano ’07, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and on-air talent at Univision Network in Miami, has been named co-anchor of the weekend evening edition of the network’s national newscast, “Noticiero Univision,” which airs coast to coast at 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Interiano began co-anchoring the weekend newscast on Saturday, Jan. 22, alongside Felix De Bedout.

She will help us advance our mission of informing and empowering Hispanic America.”

Previously, Interiano served as a reporter, correspondent and host of Univision’s flagship daytime Emmy Award-winning show “Despierta América,” “UNews,” and “Noticiero Univision Edición Digital.” In addition, Interiano has frequently been a Univision correspondent for a variety of events, including “Premios Juventud,” “Premio lo Nuestro,” the “Latin GRAMMY” awards, “Nuestra Belleza Latina,” the Golden Globes, the Oscars and Rose Parade among many others.

As one of Univision’s lead correspondents, Interiano has covered the migrant caravans reaching the U.S.-Mexico border and the resulting humanitarian crisis. Her versatility has allowed her to cover a wide range of stories that include the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from London and the canonization of Saint Mother Teresa in Rome.

“I am extremely happy and grateful for the opportunity to be the co-anchor for the weekend edition of Univision News (Noticiero Univision),” Interiano said. “As an ���ϲ����� student, my goal was to work for a national newscast, and 15 years later, I am one of the anchors of the most important Spanish-speaking newscast in the U.S. I begin this new chapter in my professional career with the commitment to inform, listen to and tell the stories that matter and interest the Latinos and Hispanics in this country.”

Interiano, a broadcast communications major at ���ϲ�����, attributes much of her professional success to the university’s national leadership in engaged learning and to her mentors in the School of Communications who helped guide her development as a journalist. Last fall, Interiano was named one of the four alumni co-chairs of the $250 million ���ϲ����� LEADS Campaign, along with alumni Priscilla Awkard ’95, Christian Wiggins ’03 and Jack McMackin ’08. The four co-chairs are leading the final year of ���ϲ����� LEADS, which ends on December 31, 2022.

One of ���ϲ�����’s most engaged graduates, Interiano has been a loyal donor to ���ϲ����� LEADS with gifts to support ���ϲ�����’s Greatest Needs, the Latinx/Hispanic Alumni Network, Phoenix Club and School of Communications. She received ���ϲ�����’s Top 10 Under 10 Award in 2012 and . She is also a member of the President’s Young Leaders Council and returns to campus to mentor students in the School of Communications.

“I support ���ϲ����� LEADS because I understand that the professional I’ve become started off with the education I received at ���ϲ�����, and everything I’ve accomplished so far goes hand in hand with my ���ϲ����� experience,” she said.

Interiano also serves the Hispanic community by working with the Amor y Vida Foundation, which offers comprehensive care to young children and teenagers affected by HIV/AIDS in her native Honduras. She also participates in the annual Teletón México and Teletón U.S.A. fundraising events.

Interiano’s promotion is part of Univision’s ongoing investments in its news division, which includes the addition of more than 150 newsroom positions, the expansion of its weekend news programming and most recently the launch of “Noticias Univision 24/7,” the premier news streaming channel featuring breaking news, original lifestyle content, opinion and information curated for Spanish-speaking audiences.
