The associate dean in the School of Communications is one of two new members of The Plank Center鈥檚 Board of Advisors, providing leadership for the organization dedicated to supporting the practice of ethical and responsible public relations.
Kenn Gaither, associate dean in the School of Communications and professor of strategic communications, has been . A leading resource in public relations through the University of Alabama, The Plank Center provides resources, content and leadership in the public relations industry.

Gaither was one of two new members added the center鈥檚 Board of Advisors, joining Scott Vazin, group vice president and chief communications officer for Toyota Motor North America. As part of this week鈥檚 announcement, the center also named Bridget Coffing, most recently senior vice president of worldwide corporate relations for McDonald鈥檚 Corporation, as the board鈥檚 incoming chair.
鈥淭he Plank Center is an engine for change and evolution in public relations, and its mission to mentor the next generation of leaders, promote diversity, equity and inclusion in public relations and serve the greater good represents ideals our profession 鈥撀燼nd our global society 鈥撀爏orely needs,鈥 said Gaither in The Plank Center鈥檚 Jan. 25 announcement.
Having worked professionally in the public relations industry for nearly a decade, Gaither has extensive understanding of the field. In addition to teaching courses in mass communications, public relations and international communications, he has published research in journals, including the Journal of Public Relations Research and Public Relations Review. Gaither has also authored three books, most recently 鈥淕lobalization and Public Relations in Postcolonial Nations: Challenges and Opportunities.鈥
