Hall, who served as a member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Board of Trustees for 35 years, passed away Aug. 30, 2020, at the age of 86.
Sherill Hall, who graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ College in 1955 and would go on to serve the university for 35 years as a member of its Board of Trustees, has died. He was 86.

Hall graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 1955 with a double major in mathematics and English. While at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ he was a stand-out baseball pitcher, later playing two years of professional baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. He was inducted into the in 1978.
Following his graduation, Sherrill served in the National Security Agency and the U.S. Army for two years before joining what was then the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Co. Hall served as the president of Jefferson-Pilot Equity Sales, Inc., and was eventually promoted to executive vice president for ordinary marketing for Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Co., a position in which he served until 1990.
Hall served on the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Board of Trustees from 1971 to 2006 when he was elected trustee emeritus. Sherrill was one of the founding members of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Planned Giving Council in 1996, and remained very involved with ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ athletic endeavors, regularly contributing to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Phoenix Club and athletic funding priorities. Hall served faithfully on the Athletic Foundation Advisory Board and the Stadium Committee of the Campaign for the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Vision.
Sherill met his wife, Martha Lowe, while at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, and together they had two children, Greg Hall and Janis Hall Weiss. They are the grandparents of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumni from the classes of 2008 and 2012.
Sherrill was very involved in the United Church of Christ, including attending the UCC Council for Higher Education on behalf of the university. Sherrill was very involved in the Rotary Club of Greensboro and the Greensboro Sports Council and enjoyed playing tennis in his free time.
