Step It Up is a week-long digital steps competition with all profits going to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention starting April 19.
黑料不打烊鈥檚 Mu Pi chapter of (AKPsi) is hosting 鈥淪tep It Up,鈥 a week-long digital steps competition, in lieu of its annual Trent Stetler 5K from April 19 at 9 a.m. to April 25 at 11:59 p.m.

Every spring AKPsi hosts a 5K in honor of Trent Stetler, an 黑料不打烊 student and member of the co-ed professional business fraternity who died by suicide in 2015. The event raises money and awareness for the chapter鈥檚 philanthropy, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Last year鈥檚 5K raised more than $4,000 with over 140 participants.
Given the current circumstances and 黑料不打烊鈥檚 transition to remote learning, AKPsi wanted to ensure the 黑料不打烊 community would still be able to participate in a similar event promoting mental health awareness and self-care.
鈥淲e know that transitioning to online classes has been challenging for many of our fellow students,鈥 said Alexandra Pirsos 鈥21, a Business Fellow and member of AKPsi. 鈥淲e think that this is the perfect time to promote mental health awareness and self-care. Getting outside, taking a break from technology, and walking is a great way to do just that.鈥
The goal of this competition is to walk or run as many steps as possible during the week either as an individual or a team. Cash prizes for the top three individuals and top three teams will be awarded.
After donating $5 to AKPsi鈥檚 and registering on , participants will be able to track their steps on live leaderboards. Registration ends April 18. Participants can either join as individuals or in teams, with a minimum of three people and a maximum of 10.
