Sophomores look to jump-start their business careers at LSB Sophomore Success

The career event helped over 75 students connect with employers to learn how to engage, prepare and succeed in the business world.

The Porter Family Professional Development Center on Oct. 22 hosted LSB Sophomore Success, an engaged-learning program focused on jump-starting sophomore business or business-intended students in career development.

Students getting their resumes reviewed by employer at tableHeld in McKinnon Hall, the event attracted 78 students interested in developing skills beneficial to their business career development. To kick off the event, Dean Raghu Tadepalli welcomed employers and students.

During the program, students gained experience presenting themselves to an employer in a professional setting; received constructive feedback on networking, learned resume and interviewing skills from professional representatives; met and interacted with professional representatives and alumni from various industries; and took a LinkedIn professional headshot.

Additionally, unique to the event this year, students were able to attend a session hosted by FactSet on 鈥淗ow to be an all-star intern鈥 and one on 鈥淧erfecting your pitch鈥 hosted by Gartner.

鈥淪ophomore Success is a great professional development and networking program that I would recommend to everyone as early in their career as possible,鈥 Anita-Lotti Harkov 鈥22 said. 鈥淕etting feedback from experienced recruiters on your resume and interview responses is extremely helpful and beneficial for the future.鈥
