The Town of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ has been named one of the “50 Safest College Towns in America” by SafeWise, an online security system comparison engine that also provides resources for keeping homes and communities safe.
Ranked 4 out of 50, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is on this list because of educational programs such as disaster drill planning, and opportunities for hands-on experiences in safety workshops. SafeWise also noted ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Police Departments’ use of RAIDS Online – an interactive crime map of the area, as an empowering tool for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ citizens.
SafeWise selected college towns based upon recent FBI crime statistics, along with research surrounding “safety-related programs and initiatives.” Other college towns featured on the list include Brookings, South Dakota (South Dakota State University), Charleston, Illinois (Eastern Illinois University), and Rexburg, Idaho (Brigham Young University-Idaho).
