Work begins July 21 on an project to resurface a of Williamson Avenue in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
Nighttime paving work is expected to end Aug 1. Work takes place between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night along the construction route from Ball Park Drive to University Drive. During this time, one of two lanes will be closed nightly, with both lanes open to traffic during the day.
Williamson Avenue serves as a connector route for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and is along the main business district of the Town of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, NCDOT officials said, making nighttime construction the best alternative for preventing delays and accidents.
In order to reduce the impact to the citizens and businesses, NCDOT worked with town and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ leaders to determine the best construction schedule ahead of the freshman move-in date of Aug. 22.
“We thank the Town and University for their partnership in helping us complete this important project that will help improve the overall health of the local infrastructure,” NCDOT Division Engineer Mike Mills said.
