As the university gathers to celebrate its quasquicentennial, the Black Alumni Network celebrates the accomplishments of black students throughout the institution's history.
Fifty years later, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ black students and alumni continue to make a significant impact on the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community.
During Homecoming weekend, Nov. 8-10, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Black alumni will come home to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to celebrate their 50-year history. On the evening of Nov. 9, the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Black Alumni Network will host the Black Alumni Scholarship Gala and present the following alumni awards for demonstrated commitment to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community and the university’s students:

- Ruby Thornton ’99
Eugene Perry ’69 Distinguished Alumnus Award
- Darryl Smith ’86
K. Wilhelmina Boyd Outstanding Service to Students Award
- Associate Professor of English Prudence Layne
The annual Gala event will feature live music provided by the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Jazz Quartet. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the event. In addition to the Gala, EBAN will sponsor its annual Tailgate Party on Hunt Field. Last year, the EBAN Tailgate was a great success, so alumni are encourage to get their tickets in advance.
. The EBAN Package is $65, and covers the cost of the tailgate and gala and includes a $10 donation to the EBAN Scholarship.
Established in 2007, the Black Alumni Scholarship fund is intended to help make an ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ education available to deserving black students. From every gala ticket sold, $10 will go directly towards the scholarship fund to help continue this legacy.
