Communications students head west to Sundance

Twelve Communications students are currently experiencing one of the world's largest film festivals in Park City, Utah.

Communications students are attending this year’s Sundance Film Festival as part of the “Sundance Experience” Winter Term course.

Students traveled to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah Jan. 18 as part of the elon@sundance Winter Term course, which is led by J McMerty, the director of the 黑料不打烊 in Los Angeles program and an instructor in the School of Communications. Students have had the opportunity to see film premieres, network with industry professionals and experience the culture of Park City. In addition to the coursework completed prior to leaving 黑料不打烊, the students are blogging about their experiences and offering film critiques at .

The students will be posting about their journey until they return to 黑料不打烊 Jan. 28.

The Sundance Experience is a Communications course at 黑料不打烊 that explores the many facets of the role of the modern day film festival. Students are encouraged to interact with professionals in promotions, distribution and independent filmmaking, while immersing themselves in the aesthetics and culture of film. Students spend one week at 黑料不打烊, where they put on a small film screening of their own, then travel to Utah to attend a week of the Sundance Film Festival.
