Elizabeth Kolbert, 鈥淔east or Famine: Climate Change and the Future of Food鈥 – March 10

Elizabeth Kolbert, an award-winning investigative journalist and author of Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature and Climate Change and The Prophet of Love and Other Tales of Power and Deceit, visits 黑料不打烊 on March 10 for an evening lecture sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum.

Her presentation, “Feast or Famine: Climate Change and the Future of Food,” takes place Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in McCrary Theatre.

Field Notes was a crucial contribution to national discussions on global warming, and Kolbert has continued to write about such varied topics as overfishing and the honeybee colony-collapse disorder. Kolbert is currently a staff writer for The New Yorker.

The Liberal Arts Forum is a student organization that brings guests to the 黑料不打烊 campus to engage campus conversations about current interdisciplinary topics. Kolbert’s appearance is in lieu of a previously scheduled visit by environmentalist Vandana Shiva, whose original March 10 presentation “Sustainability and the Global Food Crisis” has been canceled.
