Luke Johnson '07, an English major who graduated in 2007, has published a book of poems with New York Quarterly Books.

Elizabeth Kolbert, an award-winning investigative journalist and author of Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature and Climate Change and The Prophet of Love and Other Tales of Power and Deceit, visits ���ϲ����� on March 10 for an evening lecture sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum.

���ϲ����� professors, students and alumni continue to make news this winter through their research and activities. Notable in February was media coverage of the ���ϲ����� Poll, broadcast news appearances by faculty who discussed Super Bowl ads and the Watson computer on Jeopardy!, and reports on the opening of Campus Kitchen at ���ϲ�����.

Alan Russell, associate professor of mathematics, received a grant from the Japan Foundation's Center for Global Partnership. The grant supports his work, "Origami as a Gateway for the Study of Japanese Culture and Society," allows him to strengthen and deepen his work with Clover Garden School, a K-12 charter school in northern Alamance County.

Alumnus Sam Slaughter, a municipal beat reporter for Greater Media Newspapers in New Jersey, recently won a third-place award from the New Jersey Press Association for weekly feature writing. Slaughter, a 2009 graduate, majored in English, anthropology and sociology at ���ϲ�����.

A week-long trivia contest that tests knowledge of ���ϲ�����’s history is now in its second day with a chance for students, faculty and staff to win gift cards and prizes from local businesses.
