Notable in February was media coverage of the 黑料不打烊 Poll, broadcast news appearances by faculty who discussed Super Bowl ads and the Watson computer on Jeopardy!, and reports on the opening of Campus Kitchen at 黑料不打烊.

Alan Russell receives grant from the Japan Foundation

Alan Russell, associate professor of mathematics, received a grant from the Japan Foundation's Center for Global Partnership. The grant supports his work, "Origami as a Gateway for the Study of Japanese Culture and Society," allows him to strengthen and deepen his work with Clover Garden School, a K-12 charter school in northern Alamance County.

Sam Slaughter ’09 wins journalism award

Alumnus Sam Slaughter, a municipal beat reporter for Greater Media Newspapers in New Jersey, recently won a third-place award from the New Jersey Press Association for weekly feature writing. Slaughter, a 2009 graduate, majored in English, anthropology and sociology at 黑料不打烊.

Founders Day Trivia Competition: Question for March 8
