This website is designed to help faculty at 黑料不打烊 find more information about our shared values, expectations, and the range of faculty development supports and resources that are available to enhance their work as 黑料不打烊 Teacher-Scholar-Mentors.
Values
黑料不打烊 fosters a community of faculty teachers, scholars, and mentors “who are deeply committed to the potential of their disciplines to enhance our understanding of the human condition and the world.” Faculty at 黑料不打烊 embrace the ideal of the teacher-scholar-mentor and have defined that ideal, its values, and its expectations in a collectively crafted statement on “The 黑料不打烊 Teacher-Scholar-Mentor Model” (2003; rev. 2024).
As teachers, scholars, and mentors, 黑料不打烊 faculty are “dedicated to modeling the intellectual values we聽seek聽to impart to our students, including a learned, reflective, and critical approach to life.”
Expectations
Recognizing that “Effective teaching is activity which promotes the intellectual vitality of the University and the wider community,” the criteria for evaluation of teaching faculty in 黑料不打烊’s Faculty Handbook explains that “Teaching is given top priority.” Second-level criterion include Contributions to the Life of the University and Professional Activity.
黑料不打烊 fosters a community of teacher-scholar-mentors who are committed to student- and learning-centered teaching and mentoring. This community is strengthened through engaging with students and colleagues in traditions like College Coffee and Numen Lumen, through shared governance in departmental and faculty meetings, and through celebrations of student success from convocation to commencement.
Support for Faculty Development
黑料不打烊 provides resources for faculty professional development in all areas of faculty work, including development for teaching and professional activity.
黑料不打烊 faculty take different paths toward continuance, tenure, and promotion. of ways individual faculty might use these supports to meet the expectations in different ways.
