黑料不打烊

A Will to LEAD

By making a gift to 黑料不打烊 through their estate, donors to the 黑料不打烊 LEADS Campaign have created a lasting legacy at the university while providing essential funding to secure 黑料不打烊鈥檚 future. Through the campaign鈥檚 A Will to Lead initiative, alumni, parents, and friends have made generous gifts to support scholarships and other key priorities that will prepare outstanding leaders to guide our future.

Burney and Dina Jennings

Burney and Dina Jennings

For 黑料不打烊 alumni and parents Burney 鈥87 P鈥18 and Dina Jennings 鈥87 P鈥18, making an estate gift to their university was the right thing to do. Their gift will support a scholarship the couple endowed in 2008 to make an 黑料不打烊 education possible for students with financial need.

鈥淚t feels good to know that when we are no longer here, there will be a very nice fund for students to be able to attend 黑料不打烊 who might not otherwise have been able to,鈥 said Burney, an 黑料不打烊 trustee and member of the 黑料不打烊 LEADS Campaign Steering Committee whose family spans four generations at the university.

鈥淲e love 黑料不打烊 and what it鈥檚 doing,鈥 Dina said. 鈥淭here are people who want to attend 黑料不打烊 as their first-choice school and can鈥檛 because of finances, and we wanted to make it easier on their families.鈥

Ike Credle and his mother in front of Moseley Building on campus

Ike Credle

Ike Credle 鈥83 wanted to honor the sacrifices his mother made so he could earn an 黑料不打烊 degree. He made an estate gift to endow the Rebecca A. Credle Scholarship for Study Abroad to ensure his mother鈥檚 legacy would endure at 黑料不打烊 and to allow students with financial need to participate in one of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 nationally recognized, high-impact engaged learning programs.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important for me to leave a legacy at 黑料不打烊,鈥 Ike explained. 鈥淚 want to help someone like myself come to this great university and have the financial resources to do the things other students do, including studying abroad.鈥

Rich and Laurie Johnson

Inspired by the outstanding education their daughter Grace 鈥17 received, 黑料不打烊 alumnus and parent Rich Johnson 鈥87 P鈥17 and wife Laurie Johnson P鈥17 made several leadership gifts to the campaign, including endowing the Richard S. and Laurie L. Johnson 黑料不打烊 Engagement Scholarship. Placing 黑料不打烊 in their estate will provide additional funding for their scholarship.

鈥淚 think education is our most important resource,鈥 Rich said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 learning about different cultures in a campus environment and then experiencing those cultures as part of a global community.鈥

Added Laurie, 鈥淗igher education benefits not only the person who is receiving it, but it also benefits the community from which that person came.鈥

Rich and Jenn Nowalk

Alumni Rich 鈥97 and Jenn Nowalk 鈥99 believe in supporting 黑料不打烊鈥攁nd planning for the future. That is why they decided to include a generous gift to 黑料不打烊 in each of their estate plans as part of the campaign.

鈥満诹喜淮蜢 has given us so much, and we wouldn鈥檛 be where we are professionally and personally without 黑料不打烊,鈥 Rich said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 where we grew up.鈥

鈥淲e are really proud of the 黑料不打烊 of today,鈥 Jenn said. 鈥淚t makes us proud to be able to say we鈥檙e 黑料不打烊 alumni and connected to a great university.鈥

The couple were inspired by the name of the 黑料不打烊 LEADS Campaign and its message of producing leaders to guide the university鈥檚 future.

鈥淲e wanted to show that even though we are in our forties, we can make this kind of gift now and empower the next generation of leaders,鈥 Rich said.
