This year's conference centered around the theme of “Transitions.” Student paper topics ranged from the comparison of Gen X and Gen Z views of religion to the evolution of sexual and Christian themes in vampire films.

The conference was established in 2018 to give students from smaller institutions without the resources of major universities the opportunity to present their research and interact with students from other colleges and universities.

Students and faculty at the ���ϲ����� Mathematics Department attended and presented at the MAA Southeastern Section Meeting on Feb. 27-March 1, 2025, at High Point University.

Their research was published in the journal Infant Behavior & Development, which is an international and interdisciplinary journal, publishing high-quality work on infancy.

���ϲ����� students in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program, Doctor of Physical Therapy program and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program presented their work at the Global Engagement and Research Forum on Dec. 9 in Alumni Gym.

Dahdal, a 2024 Lumen Scholar, is researching how to use LiDAR technology to gather vital signs from medical patients without touching them. It’s one of several research endeavors he has taken on throughout his time at ���ϲ�����.

For her Honors Program thesis project, Aubrey Spicola ’25 is working to create a “mixed reality planetarium” to help others study the night sky at all hours.

The new FIRE Toolkit serves as a resource for ���ϲ����� students before, during and after each of the five ���ϲ����� Experiences.

Seven ���ϲ����� faculty members were honored with endowed professorships during the Opening Day ceremony on Monday, Aug. 19. Each faculty member was recognized for their passion in their field, commitment to students and service to the university.

Ayesh Awad '24, Pagnapech Ngoun '26, Murilo Ferreira Lopes '27, Nicolas Alvarez '27 and five faculty Emily Elrod, Kristen Mazur, Brittany Riggs, Hwayeon Ryu and Aaron Trocki presented at MathFest, the annual meeting of the Mathematical Association of America on August 7-10, 2024 in Indianapolis.
