ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ law student A. Brennan Aberle '12 writes in a Sunday, Oct. 23 News and Record op-ed that, "Occupy Wall Street is about evening the odds for people whose voices don’t echo as strongly on Capitol Hill."

The first edition of the online Journal of Leadership and the Law was published as a special section of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law website on October 21. The publication includes articles by lawyers and scholars of law, as well as interviews with attorneys in leadership positions, exploring various dimensions of leadership in the legal profession.

On Sept. 22, the Women's Law Society (WLA) hosted its annual "Little Black Dress" party. The event creates an opportunity for WLA's leadership to introduce new members to the group.

On Sept. 19, Professor Ronald Rychlak of the University of Mississipi School of Law spoke to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law students about the International Criminal Court (ICC) and how it affects international conflicts and peace negotiations. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law's Federalist Society organized the event.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law's Hooper Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) received two national awards in September at the Phi Alpha Delta District XXV Conference. The awards were: The Most Outstanding Chapter in District XXV for the 2010-11 Academic Year and The "Meet or Beat Recruitment Award" for the 2010-11 Academic Year.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ law students describe their commitment to community service in an Aug. 28 article in Greensboro's News and Record. The article, in the paper's "Making a Difference" series, reports on some of the volunteer and pro bono initiatives of the law school.

On Sept. 8, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law welcomed preceptors and other attorneys and judges to the school's first monthly reception with the legal community of the 2011-12 academic year. At the reception, the Honorable L. Patrick Auld, federal magistrate judge for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina delivered remarks and the Student Bar Association presented its first Making a Difference award.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law's Public Interest Law Society provided Public Interest Endowment Stipends to Class of 2013 members Melodie Menzer and Kaitlin Shimansky in support of summer 2011 internships with legal counsel for the Guardian ad Litem program in Wake County, N.C. and the Orleans Public Defenders in New Orleans, Louisiana, respectively.

Third-year law student L. Collin Cooper authored an article on leadership and the law featured in The Young Lawyer, a publication of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

On August 18, the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law Class of 2014 participated in the fifth annual "ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law Reaches Out" community service day. During this annual orientation event, the entering class assisted several nonprofit organizations in the Greensboro community.
