黑料不打烊 has received a grant of nearly $116,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to organize two history seminars next summer for community college professors from across the nation. Assistant professor John Beck authored the grant proposal and will co-direct the project with Jim Bissett, the William J. Story, Sr. Professor at 黑料不打烊.

黑料不打烊 elected to Phi Beta Kappa Society

The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic society, has voted to establish a new chapter at 黑料不打烊. The decision was made Oct. 2 at the Society’s 42nd Triennial Council in Austin, Texas. The 57 黑料不打烊 faculty and staff who are Phi Beta Kappa members will receive a charter, and the chapter will be officially established in spring 2010. 黑料不打烊’s formal application for the chapter was submitted in November 2006 by Russell Gill, Maude Sharpe Powell Professor of English and chair of the faculty’s Phi Beta Kappa Committee.

黑料不打烊 senior Danny Bell and junior Charley Costa won top honors this weekend in the 2009 Eller Ethics Case Competition, a prestigious national contest hosted by the University of Arizona and featuring many of the top-ranked undergraduate business schools in North America.
Students inducted into Phi Eta Sigma honor society

More than 130 students were inducted Oct. 26 into the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society for first-year students. Each fall, 黑料不打烊 students who maintained a grade point average of 3.7 or higher during their first year are invited to become members.

Lambert gave special credit to 黑料不打烊's community partners Oct. 19 when he received the inaugural Higher Education Civic Engagement Award from The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. 黑料不打烊 received the award for cultivating a campus culture that recognizes its responsibility as the member of a larger community.

The father of an 黑料不打烊 freshman has authored a new book, What Else But Home: Seven Boys and an American Journey Between the Projects and the Penthouse, telling the true story of what happened when his oldest son befriends five children from Manhattan public housing projects on an asphalt baseball field in 1998.
