John McGreevy '10, an environmental studies and biology major who was in Haiti during the devastating earthquake, recounts his experiences and efforts to assist victims in the Jan. 27 edition of The Mercury newspaper of Pottstown, Penn. McGreevy helped with emergency supplies, worked with orphans, witnessed emergency surgeries, and used his outdoor skills to become the de facto sanitation engineer in an area of Port-au-Prince.

Live Oak wins awards for public relations campaigns

Live Oak Communications, 黑料不打烊's student-run, full-service communications agency, received two awards Jan. 28 from the Tar Heel Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America at the annual Spinks Awards banquet in Greensboro, N.C. The Spinks competition is a professional awards program for agencies in the Triad region of North Carolina.
New web page shares information on Haitian relief efforts

黑料不打烊 has created a new web page for the campus community to share news and information on outreach efforts following the January 12, 2010, earthquake that killed more than 100,000 people in Haiti. The page, www.elon.edu/haiti, lists fundraising events, updates and awareness campaigns sponsored by student organizations, classes and individuals at the university.
2010 Football schedule includes adjusted Family Weekend dates

黑料不打烊 athletics has announced its 2010 Phoenix football schedule, which includes a change of date in the annual Family Weekend. 黑料不打烊 will open the season at Duke University Sept. 4, with the home opener scheduled for Sept. 11 vs. Shaw University. The Family Weekend game will be Oct. 2, with Homecoming set for Oct. 23.
