Shariq Ali ’20, Ashley Jutras ’20 and Styrling Rohr ’19 have received Critical Language Scholarships from the federal government to study foreign languages deemed critical to U.S. diplomacy and outreach.  

Derrick Luster ’20 is competing for a highly competitive national fellowship awarded each year to those with goals of working in public service or government. Winners will be announced in April. 

Nine ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumni are now studying, teaching or researching in Finland, Germany, India, Spain and the United Kingdom through the prestigious fellowship. 

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study, and teaching opportunities to recent graduates in more than 140 countries, with approximately 1,900 grants awarded annually in all fields of study.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is consistently ranked as a top producer of Fulbright students who teach, study or conduct research abroad after graduation.

The recent ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ graduate is participating in the fellowship that seeks to develop “the next generation of aspiring change makers” and will be working in a variety of sectors in New York City.

Derek Lackaff, associate professor of communications and associate director for the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, will join the Department of Information Science and Media Studies at the University of Bergen for the 2018-19 academic year.

Three members of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Class of 2018 and a recent alumna are among 10 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students selected for Fulbright awards this year — a record for the university. 

A record 11 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students and alums have been awarded Fulbright grants this spring to teach English or conduct research, adding to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s reputation as a top producer of Fulbright award winners.

Surya Shahi, who is majoring in acting and international studies, has received the Samuel Huntington Public Service Award to advance his nonprofit that is building a school in his native Nepal.
