In the 1970s and early 1980s Gary Bailey, former ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ faculty member in human service studies and currently counselor in Health and Counseling Services, was a member of a popular regional R&B group called “Brief Encounter.” A couple of years ago Gary discovered that Brief Encounter has become one of the leading cult R&B groups among record collectors. He was shocked when he noticed that copies of their first album were selling for over $2,000 on eBay. The most recent sale was over $2500. Brief Encounter is back in business and about to release its first recording in nearly 30 years, all for the benefit of Haitian Earthquake Relief.

Former (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News executive editor Don Bolden, retired physical plant assistant director Stanley Greeson and retired professor Linda Thompson Weavil received ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Medallions on Aug. 23, 2010, in an annual ceremony that celebrates the highest honor a person can receive from the university.

A paper written by Kevin J. O'Mara, professor of management, Gary R. Palin, director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and Kathy Cort, associate professor at North Carolina A&T, received the "The Best Paper Award" at the recent ABWIC conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Kevin J. O'Mara, professor of management, was awarded "Best Paper Presentation" for his paper, "Strategic Innovations: The Foundation of an Organizational Strategy," at the ABWIC Conference in Nashville in June.

Sarah Thomas has been named Director of Undergraduate Programs in the Love School of Business. Sarah graduated from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in education and received her MBA from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 2009. She previously worked in the Admissions office, and most recently served as Director of Community Relations and Special Events in the Athletics department.

Members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, a national honorary organization for students in accounting, finance, and information systems, recently participated in the organization’s annual meeting, held August 5-7 in San Jose, California. The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Chapter was recognized as a Superior Chapter. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ was also one of the host chapters for the event.
