Seventeen law schools and 31 teams of law students participated in the inaugural Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law on April 1 and 2. David Gergen, chair of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law's national advisory board, former adviser to four U.S. presidents, CNN senior political analyst, and director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, delivered the keynote address at the competition banquet.

A two-day seminar organized by the faculty, staff and students of the Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law featured presentations by immigration law scholars and practitioners, law enforcement officials, and leaders of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service. Dozens of non-profit immigration service providers and attorneys specializing in immigration law attended the event.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law's Sports and Entertainment Law Society hosted a presentation by Ron Katz on April 14. Katz is a partner of the firm Mannatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, in Palo Alto, California. He is the chair of his firm's Sports Law division.

The May 5 edition of the News & Record features ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law for its contributions to the economic growth and vitality of downtown Greensboro. The article reports on downtown Greensboro's comparatively strong economic growth indicators, noting ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's recent purchase of property in the area and the university's plans to expand facilities for the law school.

On May 6, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law professor David Levine presented findings from his article, "The People's Trade Secrets?" at the spring meeting of the Carolina Patent, Trademark & Copyright Law Association. In March, Levine discussed his research on the operation of intellectual property law at the intersection of technology and public life at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, through the Mary Junck Research Colloquium series in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Law scholars William M. Carter, Jr. of Temple University Beasley School of Law, Jacqueline D. Lipton of Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and Frank Pasquale of Seton Hall Law spoke at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law this year through the law school's faculty development lecture series.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law's Innocence Project and the undergraduate chapter of Phi Alpha Delta at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ cosponsored an April 20 forum entitled "Wrongful Convictions and Innocence: Racism and the SBI Audits." The forum featured Daryll Hunt, exonerated of rape and murder charges after more than 19 years in prison, and three distinguished attorneys engaged in innocence and justice initiatives.
