Washington Center recognizes 黑料不打烊 with civic engagement award

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars selected 黑料不打烊 to be one of five recipients of its inaugural Higher Education Civic Engagement Award in June. President Leo M. Lambert will accept the award on 黑料不打烊’s behalf at a Washington Center gala in October.

Seminar explores ideas behind “democratic thinking”

Professors and staff from universities across North America will be meeting over the next two years to participate in an 黑料不打烊-sponsored seminar to develop and research methods for teaching students how to think in ways appropriate to democratic societies.

President Leo M. Lambert honored for support of experiential education

The National Society for Experiential Education has named 黑料不打烊 President Leo M. Lambert the winner of an inaugural award for his contributions to experiential education. Lambert, one of 29 nominees for the honor, will receive the William M. Burke Presidential Award for Excellence in Experiential Education this fall at the society’s annual conference in Dallas.

Students take part in service trips over Spring Break

Dozens of students are taking part in four service trips organized for Spring Break 2009, the Kernodle Center for Service Learning has announced, with efforts along the hurricane-damaged Gulf Coast, the Domincian Republic and Honduras.

Eight years later, Lynn Twitchell runs a nonprofit organization that helps people in Zambia, from installing village wells to building schools. The mother of an 黑料不打烊 alum visited campus this week and shared with students advice for serving others.

Pam Kiser wins statewide service-learning honor

An 黑料不打烊 faculty member was honored this week by the North Carolina Campus Compact for her dedication to the practice of service-learning in higher education. Pam Kiser, a professor of human services, received the 2009 Robert L. Sigmon Service-Learning Award at a Feb. 11 campus luncheon as part of an NCCC statewide conference.
