On Sunday, March 5, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ hosted students, faculty and staff from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and the community for the closing of the Tournées French Film Festival: Join the Résistance!

What started eight years ago as a program for struggling young readers has evolved into a comprehensive literacy development project.

During this year's Summer in the Village, TLT provided children with the opportunity to play with green screen technology. 

The two-week summer program attracted 150 students in first through 12th grades to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's campus as part of the It Takes a Village Project. The camp combined academic instruction with areas including music, dance, technology and art. 

Many of â€‹Alamance County’s academically gifted students gathered at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ for continued learning.

 

The funding from Oak Foundation will support a growing program that benefits struggling young readers in Alamance County.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Village Project is now operating at five local public schools with help from many student groups including athletics, Fellows and fraternities.

North Carolina's public television station visited ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in July to report on the success of an educational program that inspires and assists young children from the local community with learning to read.

A July 24 closing ceremony marked the completion of the two-week camp that allowed 75 students to spend time on ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s campus participating in academic classes and other engaging activities.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Collegiate Chapter of the National Association for Music Education and students from the "It Takes a Village" project will perform together May 3.
