Inclusive Community Conversations is a series in collaboration with Belk Library for faculty and staff to engage in conversations about current issues.

The event gave attendees the chance to engage in conversations about issues impacting male students of color while receiving free haircuts from local licensed barbers.

The event was planned by ���ϲ�����'s leadership team overseeing a six-year, $377,800 grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to transform first-year STEM experiences and promote belonging in STEM programs among historically underrepresented groups.

The conference theme centered around building meaningful relationships with others by acknowledging diverse identities and learning from them.

A Q&A discussion will follow with ���ϲ����� faculty members Stephanie Baker and Keshia Wall, with the goal of facilitating interdisciplinary feminist conversation and community.

During the workshops, students will learn about the eight major social identities and have the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences.

The SMART Mentoring Program is open to current students who want to be peer mentors for incoming first year students. SMART aims to connect first-year and transfer ALANAM students to mentors on campus. Through a new pilot program this year, the program has expanded to include faculty and staff and offers to provide peer support that is the hallmark of the program to professional colleagues at ���ϲ�����.

Four ���ϲ����� students describe what their Hispanic heritage means to them.

���ϲ����� will celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of the Latinx/Hispanic communities to the United States.
